This is the only female allowed within the Grove - a statute of the pagan goddess Diana. She is located near the center of the Grove in an area known as 'Diana Circle'
This is one of the multiple "buses" that transport members throughtout the Grove. The buses all seem to have occultic names such as Old Druid, Hamadryad, and Diana. Visible behind the bus in the background is the backside of the Diana statue.
Here is yet another bus, this one named after the Grove mascot (B.C. representing Bohemian Club). The main club itself is located in a buliding in downtown San Francisco; the Grove is only operated a few weeks in mid-summer.
This is a great profile view of the 45 foot owl; facing to your right and looking out over the stage area. This is the site of the controversial 'Cremation of Care' in which participants dress up in ceremonial robes and sacrifice a human in effigy.
This is the owl from as it looks from across the lake, which at the time had been drained. A man can be seen in the lower left with what appears to be a shovel. During the 'Cremation of Care,' the high priests pray to the owl for wisdom and guidance in "slaying" their worldly cares.
Here is the Arabian -style flame in front of the owl which is lit during opening ceremony and extinguished 2 weeks later at closing ceremony. It is the small flame which can be seen in the center of the photo below.
Though it appears to be stone, the owl is man-made; erected in 1927. This is a photo of the rearside of the owl. Notice the door on the left leading inside. The owl is hollow and used to store various props used in their ceremonies.
